Visiting Saint Stephen’s

The church building is open to visitors Monday to Thursday, from 09:30 until 14:30, and the Secret Café is open Wednesday - Saturday, 10:00 - 16:00 (do contact the church office to check that the church is open when you plan to visit).

Saint Stephen’s can be entered from St Stephen’s Avenue, through the dark blue doors in the porch at the base of the tower. During the colder months of the year the dark blue doors may be closed, but if the gates are open the church itself will be, too. You may want to have a look at the calendar to see whether there is an event that you want to combine with your visit.

ACCESSIBILITY

Both the main church building and the Secret Café entrances can be accessed via a moveable ramp. Please advise the church office or café in advance of your visit.

Visiting us by bike

Bristol has good cycling provision, including many cycle lanes and routes through the city centre, several running right past Saint Stephen’s. We have a number of bike racks available at Saint Stephen’s for you to lock your bike to.

Public transport

Busses from many areas of the city stop in at Colston Avenue (a 1 minute walk from the church) or at Broadmead (a 5 minute walk away). If you are travelling to Bristol from further afield you can find Saint Stephen’s a 20 minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads station. Several Park and Ride options are available, all of which terminate in the city centre. Click here for the Travel West page for details.

Nearby parking

As part of Bristol’s Old City Saint Stephen’s is best visited today (as it has been for most of the last five hundred and fifty years) on foot. There is no on-street parking in Bristol’s Old City. The nearest car parks are Trenchard Street, NCP Charlotte Street and Bristol’s College Green car park (4 hr parking limit) which allows a combined visit to Bristol Cathedral as well.
