Monday 12th Royal Courts Players. They play “baroque“, a word which comes from the Portuguese word barroco, meaning “misshapen pearl” but to our ears this ornate music has beautiful balance, especially when played by this ensemble.
Wednesday 14th Allison Bolster, mezzo-soprano, Matthew Heyse-Moore, piano/ clarinet. Recital includes a Bach aria, songs by Poulenc and R Strauss, and instrumental music. Allison’s sung with Bristol Opera and has won many prizes at music festivals. Matthew’s playing is inspired by the natural world; he’s especially interested in the power of music to open the heart.
SPECIAL EVENING CONCERT – Saturday 17th Bristol Chamber Choir, 6pm, directed by Gordon Pullin, performing ‘Villa-Lobos’ – Mass in honour of Saint Sebastian and ‘Victoria, O Quam Gloriosum’ with Philip Wilby (organ) and Jack Davies (Guitar). Monday 19th Dan Phelps-piano. ‘Reflections’. Tranquil time out fromBristol bustle. Dan is a prize-winning composer and versatile pianist from Llantwit Fardre South Wales. Graduate fromRoyalWelshCollege of Music and Drama andBathSpaUniversityCollege. Performed this year at St David’s Hall, part of the Welsh Proms.
Wednesday 21st Michael Sellers piano internationally acclaimed pianist known for a strong and commanding presence and temperament, exceptional virtuoso equipment, and a warmly personal, spacious and poetic style of performance. Part of European tour. We are VERY lucky to have him.

Wednesday 28th Singer Song Writer Double Bill. Jonny Velon, BritishAcademy of New Music graduate playing a stripped down set of his songs, self-accompanying using the church’s grand piano. ‘Transcendental soul music’.
Emily Rose, Finalist atUK’s biggest singer songwriter festival, Open Mic UK 2011 at St Georges Bristol. Her style sits somewhere between Regina Spektor, Kate Bush and Diana Krall.

Next meeting isn’t until April 20th due to Easter.
