Wed 7 Mar: Moussa Kouyate, Master Kora player
Moussa Kouyate is a Senegalese Master Kora artiste, hereditary player and instrument maker from the “griot” family Kouyate. Loving the atmosphere at Saint Stephen’s, Moussa has supported us in many ways, from playing in the Café to liturgy in the church.
Wed 14 Mar: James Watson, classical and jazz guitar
James Watson has played guitar for over 30 years, has made two classical and two jazz cds with a fifth coming out soon. He has played many solo concerts and jazz gigs with for example Jerry Crozier -Cole and Cuffy Cuthbertson. He’ll play Bach, Scarlatti, Albeniz, Koshkin, Rodrigo and Barrios.
Wed 21 Mar: UWE Flute Choir and Woodwind Ensemble
Music from Bach to Gershwin and beyond, played by UWE’s Centre for Performing Arts talented 7-piece flute choir and 9-piece woodwind ensemble, directed by Valerie Hodges.
Wed 28 Mar: Matthew Sear, guitarist
Matthew Sear is a welcome returner to Lunchtime Live. There’ll be excerpts from his recent recordings – an album of the 20th century classical guitar – with music by Britten de Falla and Walton and original gypsy jazz.
Fri 30 Mar: Royal Court Players
Specialists in the Baroque period and a popular draw at Saint Stephen’s, this ensemble will bring repertoire appropriate for the start of Passion Week. Such music fits the building’s acoustic perfectly.
