Peter Owen-Jones – Extreme Pilgrim

May 31, 2011

Some photos from Thursday 30 June. Many thanks to Chris Dobson of the Diocese of Bristol for the beautiful photographs of Peter Owen-Jones.

Thursday 30 June, 7.30 pm

Peter Owen-Jones, clergyman, author and TV presenter of Extreme Pilgrim, Around the World in 80 Faiths and How to Live a Simple Life, comes to Saint Stephen’s church.

Peter Owen-Jones shares his insights into world faiths – the challenges facing the major world religions, and why indigenous nature-based religions are having a revival.

He looks behind-the-scenes at religious broadcasting.

He talks about why he spent time as a moneyless man and how he took financial advice from St Francis of Assisi.

He reveals the inside story of the Life Cairn on Mount Caburn near Lewes, East Sussex.

Following the ancient bronze age cairns in the area, the Life Cairn is a memorial to extinct creatures.

“Inspiring, poignant, hilarious, passionate, moving and galvanising as ever.” Review of last talk, Totnes.

Peter Owen-Jones was interviewed on BBC Bristol Radio Trevor Fry’s programme last Sunday in connection with this event. Listen 1.09:19 into the programme.

Tickets £10 concessions £7.50

Hi Steve

Saint Stephen’s belongs to the Church of England.

That’s so fascinating. Does your neighbour have any more information on their great-grandfather?
Presumably he lived in Bristol and he or his family emigrated to the US?

Keep us posted, Elisabeth
