Building Reconciliation Hope exhibition

November 4, 2010

The Building Reconciliation Hope exhibition visits Saint Stephen’s in November 2010.

This free-standing exhibition was displayed in Bristol Central Library in October.

Compiled by historian, James Russiello, it tells Saint Stephen’s story – the history of the building and its links with people, power and pain.

Such as the story of Josiah Tucker (above), Saint Stephen’s campaigning rector.

And slavery-era Africans far from home,  baptised at Saint Stephen’s.

Saint Stephen’s is engaged in work with reconciling its past links with slavery with the Reconciliation Reredos project and its Bristol Reconciliation Reredos arts programme this autumn/winter.

Saint Stephen’s church is open to visitors
Daily 9.30am – 4pm

The church can also be accessed through Saint Stephen’s Cafe Mon-Fri 10.00am – 3.30pm

Is it possible to get a print out of the Building Reconciliation Hope free standing display? I found it so interesting.

Hi – many thanks for your enquiry.

We are hoping to get a leaflet printed in 2011 with the fascinating history of Saint Stephen’s and we also hope to be updating the church’s Wikipedia entry with the latest historical compilation done by historian, James Russiello.

Best wishes
