23 March-4 April Stations of the Cross exhibition

Graeme Evelyn exhibits Stations of the Cross, a series of 15 contemporary carved painted panels for Easter. This touring exhibition was originally commissioned by Gloucester Cathedral.

23 Mar – The Narrow Road

7.30pm Easter drama, The Narrow Road, presented by Riding Lights Theatre with music led by David Mowat. Tickets on the door £8 and £6 (concessions)

24 Mar Lunchtime Live

1pm Sacred sounds for healing – lunchtime live concert with Jerome O’Connell and Sophie Pullinger. Free event, donations welcome

31 Mar Lunchtime Live

1pm Henbury school band and choir – lunchtime concert. Free event, donations welcome

critical.mass before Easter

5.30-7.30pm This week’s theme is the power of real leadership, or Servant Leadership. Please bring a very small gift of food for our shared supper in the Cafe. There will be a chance to sign-up to share a few words about the Station of the Cross images by our artist-in-residence, Graeme Evelyn, for our Stations of the Cross walk the following day

Good Friday children worship and workshop

10am-noon Creative gathering for children and their carers with Revd Lizzie Kesteven. Meet in Cafe 10am

Good Friday Drawing Exchange: Vertical + Horizontal

2-5pm A drawing workshop led by artist Kayle Brandon, exploring hidden aspects and stories in this sacred space: £5 donation.

Good Friday Artist Talk and Stations of the Cross Walk

6pm Graeme Evelyn in conversation on his work, Stations of the Cross, exhibited in Saint Stephen’s over Easter, and his current project as artist-in-residence, Reconciliation Reredos, to be installed this winter. Everyone is invited to come and see this thought-provoking exhibition, and talk with Graeme about his inspiration and arts practice

7.30pm After the talk, experience walking the Stations of the Cross, the ancient practice of taking a virtual journey to the Holy Land by capturing the mystical imagination. With Saint Stephen’s priest-in-charge, Tim Higgins.

Easter Saturday Gospel singing

2-4.30pm Get on Board! Gospel singing workshop – uplifting songs in glorious harmony led by Ali Orbaum (Gasworks Choir) and Chris Samuel (Bristol Voices): £10. PLEASE BOOK (see below)

Holy Saturday gathering – Reflective Fire

7.00pm Celebrate the mystery of Easter - out of darkness comes new fire, the Light of resurrection and hope

Easter Sunday Simple communion – building community

10 am Starts with community news and breakfast in Saint Stephen’s Cafe – tea, coffee, cereals, croissants, toast and jam (donations only). Followed by liturgy and altar in the church 10.30am-noon
